Dr Josephine Guyer

Dr Josephine Guyer is a highly dedicated and compassionate General Practitioner practising in Liverpool, Australia. As a proud Wiradjuri woman, she is deeply committed to providing responsive, culturally appropriate, and patient-centred care to individuals and families within the community. Dr Guyer brings a unique depth of clinical insight to her practice, drawing on an extensive prior career as a Registered Nurse before transitioning into medicine. Dr Guyer completed her medical training to earn her Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery. Her academic foundation also includes a Diploma of Applied Science in Nursing and a Bachelor of Health. She is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners, reflecting her high standards of clinical excellence. Demonstrating her leadership in the medical community, Dr Guyer has served as the Board Chairperson for the Indigenous General Practice Trainee Network and has contributed as a Medical Educator, sharing her knowledge to support the next generation of healthcare professionals.

Throughout her career, Dr Guyer has developed key clinical interests in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health, child and family health, and mental health. Her dedication to closing the healthcare gap and her outstanding contributions to general practice have been widely recognised. She was honoured by the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners with the Growing Strong Award, and was subsequently named both the regional and national General Practitioner in Training of the Year. Her practice encompasses a broad range of essential services, including antenatal and shared care, cervical screening, childhood immunisations, and iron infusions.
