He also completed a clinical fellowship at L’Hopital de la Croix Rousse in Lyon, France, with Professor Sebastien Lustig, focusing on arthroscopic, robotic-assisted, and complex revision surgeries of the shoulder and lower limbs.
Upon returning to Australia, Dr. Swan received further training in anterior minimally invasive hip replacement surgery and is proficient in performing both primary and revision hip replacement surgeries. His extensive experience includes the supervision of orthopaedic registrars and international fellows. Dr. Swan holds a Master of Surgery by Research from the University of Melbourne and has been awarded multiple research scholarships. He has authored over 35 original research publications and contributed to six book chapters on shoulder and knee surgery.
Dr. Swan is affiliated with several professional organisations, including the Royal Australian College of Surgeons, the Australian Orthopaedic Association, the Victorian Shoulder and Elbow Society, and the Australian Medical Association. His practice encompasses a wide range of conditions, including shoulder joint replacement (both anatomic and reverse), rotator cuff tears, shoulder stabilization, shoulder dislocation and labral tears, biceps tendon rupture, upper limb fractures, carpal tunnel release, hip and knee joint replacement, radio frequency ablation, sporting injuries of the knee (including multi-ligament and ACL injuries), knee arthroscopy, total and partial knee arthroplasty, and general orthopaedic trauma.
