Before embarking on his medical career, Dr Carmody worked as a Chartered Accountant in Sydney and London. He subsequently pursued his passion for healthcare, graduating with a medical degree from the University of Newcastle in 1991. He has been actively practising as a General Practitioner since his graduation, and has been serving patients in the Balgowlah area since 1996. His unique professional background enhances his analytical approach to patient care and clinical problem-solving.

As a versatile General Practitioner, Dr Carmody has developed several areas of clinical interest, including preventative health, ear, nose, and throat (ENT) diseases, and low-level laser therapy. He is committed to helping patients manage chronic conditions and implement preventative strategies to maintain long-term well-being. Outside of his clinical practice, Dr Carmody resides in Manly and enjoys an active lifestyle, with interests in cycling, paddling, and motorcycling.
