Dr John-Alec Tynan

Dr John-Alec Tynan is a dedicated and forward-thinking General Practitioner who provides comprehensive, evidence-based primary care. With a clinical approach rooted in inclusivity and compassion, he is committed to delivering tailored healthcare that meets the diverse needs of his patients. Dr Tynan combines his extensive background in emergency medicine and public health to offer thorough assessments, accurate diagnoses, and supportive ongoing management for individuals at all stages of life.

Dr Tynan completed his Bachelor of Science before earning his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from the University of Sydney in 2009. Committed to broadening his medical expertise, he also obtained a Master of Public Health and a Diploma in Tropical Medicine and Hygiene. In 2017, he was awarded Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP), having previously been recognised as the RACGP Registrar of the Year for 2016/2017. Beyond his clinical practice, Dr Tynan is actively involved in medical education, serving as an Examiner for the RACGP clinical examinations and contributing to the training of future General Practitioners.

With a broad scope of practice, Dr Tynan has developed particular clinical interests in sexual health, travel medicine, and mental health. He is an accredited S100 prescriber, enabling him to provide specialised HIV care and management. His practice also encompasses gender-affirming care, antenatal and prenatal care, children's health, and both men's and women's health. Additionally, Dr Tynan is highly skilled in performing a variety of clinical procedures, including Implanon and intrauterine device (IUD) insertions, vasectomies, colposcopies, medical terminations of pregnancy, and cosmetic anti-wrinkle treatments.
