Dr Alcorn completed his medical training at James Cook University, graduating with his medical degree in 2013. To further his expertise in delivering comprehensive care, particularly in diverse and regional settings, he undertook advanced training and was awarded a Fellowship of the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (FACRRM) in 2021.
