Dr Joel Carmody

Dr Joel Carmody is a dedicated and highly skilled General Practitioner who provides comprehensive, patient-centred care. With a diverse medical background that spans both civilian and military medicine, he is committed to delivering high-quality healthcare tailored to the unique needs of each individual. Dr Carmody is passionate about preventive medicine and holistic health, ensuring that his patients receive the support and guidance necessary to maintain long-term well-being.

Dr Carmody graduated with his medical degree from the University of Sydney in 2010. Following his graduation, he completed extensive clinical rotations across various metropolitan and regional hospital departments. He then served as a Medical Officer in the Australian Regular Army from 2013 to 2016, providing essential medical services in both rural Australian communities and overseas locations. During this period, he completed his specialist general practice training in Darwin and Brisbane, subsequently attaining his Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP). Committed to continuous professional development, Dr Carmody has also completed the RACGP Certificate in Dermatology and has undertaken advanced training in skin cancer management through the University of Queensland, whilst working towards accreditation with the Skin Cancer College Australasia.

In his daily practice, Dr Carmody maintains a broad range of clinical interests, with a particular focus on skin cancer detection and management, including skin cancer surgery. His extensive military background has also given him deep expertise in veterans' health and Department of Veterans' Affairs (DVA) procedures, allowing him to support former service personnel transitioning to civilian life. Additionally, he is highly experienced in sports medicine, chronic disease management, paediatric health, men's health, and performing iron infusions. Dr Carmody's reassuring and thorough approach ensures that patients of all ages receive compassionate and evidence-based medical care.
