Dr Joanna Simmons

Dr Joanna Simmons is a highly dedicated Paediatric Allergist and Immunologist who specialises in diagnosing and managing a wide range of allergic and immunological conditions in infants, children, and adolescents. With a compassionate and family-centred approach, she focuses on delivering tailored care to help young patients manage their symptoms and improve their overall quality of life.

Dr Simmons completed her medical degree at the University of Sydney, graduating in 2001, and subsequently obtained a Master of Public Health in 2002. She gained extensive clinical experience working in Sydney, Darwin, and Brisbane before relocating to Melbourne to undertake advanced training. She successfully completed her specialist training in Paediatric Allergy and Immunology at a leading paediatric hospital in 2011.

Her clinical expertise spans a broad spectrum of paediatric allergic disorders. Dr Simmons is particularly interested in the assessment and management of food allergies and anaphylaxis in children aged four months and older, as well as eczema and allergic rhinitis (hay fever). She also provides specialised care for children experiencing anaphylaxis from insect stings, offers allergen immunotherapy (desensitisation), and conducts thorough assessments for children with recurrent infections or suspected immunodeficiencies.
