Professor James Keck is clinical director of colorectal surgery for Eastern Health. Professor Keck sees private patients at both Epworth Eastern and St Vincent's Private Hospital, where is the acting head of colorectal surgery. He also holds consultations in Fitzroy and Victoria.
Professor Keck's specialist interests include: Pelvic floor disorders Colonoscopy Sacral Nerve Stimulation (SNS) for faecal incontinence Transanal Endoscopic Microsurgery (TEMS) Laparoscopic (keyhole) colorectal surgery Inflammatory Bowel Disease
Professor Keck first trained in general surgery at St Vincent's Hospital and then undertook specialist colorectal surgery training in the UK, Adelaide, Melbourne, and the USA. He has an interest in teaching and has previously led surgical training at St Vincent's. Other leadership positions Professor Keck has held include president of the Colorectal Surgical Society of Australia & New Zealand (CSSANZ) and chair of RACS Colorectal Surgery.
In addition to this, Professor Keck has made significant contributions to research and has published a number of journal articles on pelvic floor and clinical colorectal surgery.
Professor Keck's personal interests include coaching basketball, music, and English literature.
