Dr James Chanaka

Dr James Chanaka is a dedicated and compassionate General Practitioner who is committed to providing comprehensive, patient-centred care. He adopts a holistic approach to medicine, ensuring that each patient receives personalised attention tailored to their unique health needs. With a broad clinical focus, Dr Chanaka is passionate about supporting individuals and families through all stages of life, promoting long-term health and well-being.

Dr Chanaka graduated with his medical degree from the University of Zimbabwe in 2003. After gaining valuable experience across various medical disciplines, including emergency medicine and general practice, he relocated to Australia in 2011. He worked in emergency departments before transitioning to general practice, and he went on to achieve his Fellowship with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners in 2014. In addition to his clinical work, Dr Chanaka is actively involved in medical education, serving as an Examiner with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners to help mentor and guide the next generation of General Practitioners.

His clinical interests are diverse, with a particular focus on the management of chronic conditions such as cardiovascular disease and diabetes. Dr Chanaka is also highly skilled in performing skin cancer assessments and excisions, as well as addressing mental health concerns and children's health. His reassuring and thorough approach helps patients feel supported and empowered in managing their healthcare journeys.
