Dr James Bowman

Dr James Bowman is a highly qualified Ear, Nose and Throat Surgeon and Otolaryngologist who provides comprehensive care for both adult and paediatric patients. With a clinical focus on complex conditions of the skull base, head and neck cancers, and general ear, nose, and throat disorders, he works collaboratively with other medical Specialists to deliver optimal patient outcomes. His clinical practice encompasses the management of benign and malignant lesions, including pituitary tumours and vestibular schwannomas, utilising advanced endoscopic and minimally invasive techniques to access anatomically complex areas.

Dr Bowman completed his undergraduate dental degree at the University of Queensland in 1994, followed by his medical degree from the same institution in 2001. He went on to complete advanced surgical training in Otolaryngology in Queensland in 2009. To further refine his expertise, he undertook post-fellowship training internationally, completing a fellowship in Head and Neck and Skull Base Surgery in London, followed by specialised training in anterior and lateral skull base surgery in Italy. He is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and holds active memberships with several professional bodies, including the Australian Medical Association, the Australian and New Zealand Skull Base Society, the Australia and New Zealand Rhinologic Society, the Australia and New Zealand Head and Neck Cancer Society, and the Australian Society of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery.

In addition to his clinical work, Dr Bowman is dedicated to medical education and clinical research. He serves as an Associate Professor, supervising higher research degree students and teaching medical students. His research interests include exploring novel treatment modalities for cutaneous malignancies and developing innovative training tools, such as three-dimensionally printed temporal bones for surgical planning. Dr Bowman is committed to providing reassuring, patient-centred care, ensuring that each individual receives a tailored treatment plan designed to address their specific ear, nose, throat, or skull base condition.
