A/Prof James Bell is a highly respected Consultant Physician and Specialist in General (Internal) Medicine and Addiction Medicine, practising in Castle Hill, Sydney. With a career dedicated to clinical excellence, research, and education, he provides comprehensive and compassionate care to patients facing complex medical challenges. A/Prof Bell is widely recognised for his patient-centred approach, ensuring that individuals receive personalised treatment plans tailored to their unique health needs.

His clinical expertise spans a broad range of internal medicine conditions, with a particular focus on substance use disorders, drug dependency, and opioid use disorder. A/Prof Bell is highly skilled in managing complex cases where chronic pain and addiction intersect, utilising evidence-based pharmacotherapies such as methadone and buprenorphine. A/Prof Bell completed his undergraduate medical training at the University of Sydney, graduating with a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) alongside a Bachelor of Arts with Honours. He subsequently obtained his Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree. Demonstrating his commitment to the highest standards of medical practice, he is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) and a Fellow of the Australasian Chapter of Addiction Medicine (FAChAM).

In addition to his clinical practice, A/Prof Bell has made significant contributions to medical education and policy both in Australia and internationally. He serves as a Conjoint Associate Professor at the University of New South Wales and has previously held academic and clinical roles at King's College London. A pioneer in his field, he led the establishment of the Australasian Chapter of Addiction Medicine and was instrumental in securing formal specialty recognition for addiction medicine in Australia, helping to shape the training of future generations of medical professionals.
