Dr Chan began his medical journey at the University of Western Australia, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine and a Bachelor of Surgery. He went on to complete his specialist ophthalmic training locally, culminating in his admission as a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists. To further refine his skills, he undertook dual fellowship training in cornea, cataract, and laser refractive surgery, which included advanced training at a prestigious eye hospital in London.
