Dr Georgia Rigas

Dr Georgia Rigas is a highly dedicated General Practitioner who specialises in metabolic health and obesity management. She is committed to providing compassionate, evidence-based, and patient-centred care, working collaboratively with individuals to optimise their long-term health outcomes. With a holistic approach to medicine, Dr Rigas focuses on empowering patients through education, helping them make informed decisions about their health and wellness while building self-efficacy.

Her clinical practice is particularly focused on the intersection of metabolic, cardiovascular, and mental health. Dr Rigas has a deep interest in the multi-generational effects of metabolic diseases, such as obesity, polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), and diabetes. Her areas of clinical focus include metabolic health optimisation prior to conception, the impact of obesity on both male and female fertility, and managing body composition and metabolic changes during the menopause transition. Additionally, she provides comprehensive medical management for patients undergoing bariatric metabolic surgery, offering tailored support both before and after their procedures.

Dr Rigas completed her Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery, alongside a Bachelor of Science (Medicine), at the University of New South Wales in 2000. She obtained her Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners in 2008 and is also a Fellow of the Royal College of General Practitioners in the United Kingdom. Her postgraduate qualifications include a Diploma in Obstetrics and Gynaecology and a Diploma in Family Planning and Reproductive Health from the United Kingdom. Recognised internationally for her expertise, she is a Strategic Centre for Obesity Professional Education (SCOPE) certified Obesity Doctor and was awarded a SCOPE International Fellowship. Dr Rigas is also the founder and inaugural Chair of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners Obesity Management Network, reflecting her leadership and advocacy in the field.
