Dr Geoffrey Withers

Dr Geoffrey Withers is a highly regarded Paediatric Gastroenterologist who provides expert, compassionate care for infants, children, and adolescents. Specialising in the diagnosis and management of a wide range of gut, liver, and digestive disorders, Dr Withers is dedicated to helping young patients and their families achieve optimal health and wellbeing. His clinical approach is centred on the health of the tummy and gastrointestinal tract, ensuring that children receive tailored support from birth through to their teenage years.

Dr Withers completed his Bachelor of Medical Science and Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery at the University of Western Australia, qualifying in 1987. He subsequently undertook advanced specialist training in paediatric gastroenterology at a prominent children's hospital in Calgary, Canada. Dr Withers is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians. Since 2007, he has also contributed his expertise as a representative of this college on the Conjoint Committee for Recognition of Training in Gastrointestinal Endoscopy.

Throughout his distinguished career, Dr Withers has held several key leadership positions, including serving as the Director of Gastroenterology at a major paediatric hospital in Brisbane, as well as the Director of a state-wide paediatric gastroenterology, hepatology, and nutrition service. He is fully qualified to perform specialised diagnostic procedures, including paediatric endoscopy and colonoscopy. Dr Withers adopts a holistic approach to patient care, working collaboratively to manage complex conditions such as inflammatory bowel disease, coeliac disease, and allergic gut disorders, with the ultimate goal of helping children lead active, comfortable, and fulfilling lives.
