Dr Ong completed his medical degree, obtaining his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery, and Bachelor of Obstetrics (MB, BCh, BAO), at the National University of Ireland in Dublin in 1986. He furthered his postgraduate education by obtaining a Diploma in Dermatology from the University of Wales, Cardiff, in 1995. Demonstrating his commitment to high standards of medical practice, he became a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners in 1998. Additionally, he holds professional qualifications as a Licentiate of the Royal College of Physicians in London and a Member of the Royal College of Surgeons in England.
