Dr. Dev Tilakaratne

Dr. Dev Tilakaratne is a highly qualified and dedicated Consultant Dermatologist who provides comprehensive care for a wide range of skin conditions. Born and raised in northern Australia, he possesses an intrinsic understanding of skin health within tropical and regional contexts. He is deeply committed to improving access to quality dermatological care for patients in regional and remote areas, utilising both in-person consultations and innovative telehealth platforms to reach those in need. Throughout his career, Dr. Tilakaratne has established a reputation for delivering reassuring, patient-centred care that addresses both general dermatological concerns and complex skin conditions.

Dr. Tilakaratne completed his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) in 2008 at a prominent university in Queensland, where his training was heavily influenced by rural, remote, Indigenous, and tropical health perspectives. He subsequently gained valuable clinical experience working at a major hospital in the Northern Territory and contributing to research at a leading health research institute. To pursue specialised training in Dermatology, he relocated to South Australia, where he gained extensive experience across several major teaching and paediatric hospitals. Dr. Tilakaratne was awarded his Fellowship of the Australasian College of Dermatologists (FACD) in 2015. He is also a Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (MAICD).

In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Tilakaratne is passionate about medical education and research. He serves as an Associate Lecturer at a major university, where he teaches and mentors medical students, and he regularly supervises accredited Dermatology Registrars. As an Honorary Clinical Fellow with a renowned health research institute, he has served as a Principal Investigator in clinical trials, particularly focusing on infectious skin conditions such as scabies. Dr. Tilakaratne has published numerous articles in peer-reviewed medical journals and actively contributes to the scientific community as a journal reviewer and presenter at national dermatological meetings.
