Dr David Wheatley

Dr David Wheatley is an Orthopaedic Surgeon with subspecialist training in the management of conditions affecting the lower limb. Their expertise includes surgery of the hip, knee, foot and ankle. They also maintain an interest in general orthopaedic trauma.

Dr Wheatley attended the University of Queensland Medical School and, after graduating, served as both a junior and senior medical officer in several Queensland Health Hospitals. Their interest in orthopaedic surgery led them to undertake orthopaedic surgical rotations in their early years. Advanced orthopaedic surgical training followed. Dr Wheatley became a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of Surgeons (RACS) after completing specialist training with the Australian Orthopaedic Association (AOA).

During their registrar years, Dr Wheatley developed a keen interest in lower limb surgery, leading them to pursue subspecialist training at the National University Hospital in Singapore. This training further developed their skills in primary hip and knee arthroplasty, as well as the management of more complex revision surgery. Upon returning to Australia, Dr Wheatley gained experience in hip and knee reconstruction, along with exposure to complex trauma and foot and ankle surgery.
