Dr. David O'Rourke

Dr. David O'Rourke is a highly regarded Obstetrician and Gynaecologist who provides comprehensive, patient-centred care. He began his medical career as a rural General Practitioner, gaining broad experience across regional areas before pursuing specialist training. This diverse background allows him to approach patient care with a holistic and reassuring perspective, ensuring that most clinical situations are managed efficiently and with minimal need for external intervention. Dr. O'Rourke is dedicated to supporting women and families through every stage of their reproductive journeys, combining clinical excellence with a compassionate, understanding approach.

With a strong focus on reproductive health, Dr. O'Rourke specialises in general obstetrics and gynaecology, with particular expertise in fertility and reproductive medicine. His clinical interests encompass the management of high-risk pregnancies, recurrent miscarriage, endometriosis, and menopause. He is also highly skilled in performing advanced laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery, including laparoscopic hysterectomies, and provides expert care in colposcopy. His personal and professional familiarity with the complexities of fertility treatments, including IVF, enables him to offer deeply empathetic and tailored support to patients navigating these challenging paths.

Dr. O'Rourke completed his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) and went on to achieve extensive postgraduate qualifications. He is a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (FRANZCOG), a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP), and a Fellow of Advanced Rural General Practice (FARGP). In 2011, he completed a Master's Degree in Reproductive Medicine from the University of New South Wales. He qualified as a Specialist Obstetrician and Gynaecologist in 2009. In recognition of his outstanding service to medicine and community health initiatives, he was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) in 2021.
