Dr David Maxwell Welch

Dr David Maxwell Welch is a highly skilled and compassionate Optometrist dedicated to providing comprehensive eye care to the community of Victor Harbor and surrounding regional areas. With decades of clinical experience, he has served diverse populations across both metropolitan and regional Australia. Throughout his career, Dr Maxwell Welch has demonstrated a deep commitment to public health, having practised extensively with remote Indigenous communities through outreach schemes, supported individuals with low vision, and provided essential eye care services to refugees and asylum seekers.

Dr Maxwell Welch completed his academic training at the University of New South Wales, where he earned a Bachelor of Optometry and a Graduate Certificate in Ocular Therapeutics. He is highly active in the professional advancement of his field, having served as a Board Member for Optometry Australia at both state and national levels. Additionally, he contributes to the education of future Optometrists as a Consulting Skills Assessor and Clinical Mentor for university students.

In his clinical practice, Dr Maxwell Welch focuses on ocular therapeutics, disease management, and children's vision, alongside contact lens fitting and rural community eye care. His dedication to improving vision extends globally; he has volunteered his time to deliver free eye care to underserved populations internationally, including participating in charitable eye camps in Mongolia.
