Mr Craig Timms is a neurosurgeon based in Richmond, Australia. After completing his Medical Degree at the University of Tasmania in 1996 and an intern year at Burnie Hospital, he moved to Melbourne in 1998 to work at The Alfred Hospital. Dr Craig Timms is professional, friendly, caring, and provides clear explanations, with patients frequently praising his thorough approach and excellent bedside manner. His expertise in various spinal surgeries, including fusions, laminectomies, and discectomies, often results in considerable pain relief and a better quality of life for many. Some patients mention difficulties with appointment scheduling or ongoing pain after procedures, but his care consistently addresses spinal conditions like sciatica or herniated discs.
I was referred to Dr Timms regarding my car accident injuries. Dr Timms and Nurse Pauline have been absolutely amazing. Dr Timms provided a thorough explanation of my injuries and the available treatment options. Pauline has been very patient and thoughtful in assisting me through the painful process of communicating with TAC. As a biomedical engineer who has worked in healthcare in the US and other countries, this has been one of the highest-quality experiences I’ve had in the Australian healthcare system after many instances of misdiagnosis and experiencing delays in diagnosis. Thank you.
I found Mr Timms very personable friendly and also easy to understand in relation to my back issues
As always Mr Timms was clear and thorough with his assessment of my spinal problem. He showed me my scans and explained exactly what my choices were. I trust him implicitly and feel safe with his advice and recommendation's. Apart from the above he is simply a lovely man too. .
It was overall positive. Thing is that I have a bunch of questions I’d like to ask. Does it require another appt or can I simply call? I was in a lot of pain at the time so had trouble taking all the information in.

Not only is Mr Timms a fantastic surgeon, he is an amazing man with a wonderful manner. The relief I am feeling as a result of my surgery is brilliant. I would highly recommend Mr Timms to anyone needing spinal surgery.
Dr Craig was very informative from my 1st appt. In 2023. My back issues worsened by 2025 & l had constant nerve pain & sciatica. I had tried everything & at 69yrs l had a choice to stay as l was or trust my surgeon to operate. I underwent a 4hr op major reconstructive surgery lumbar 3/4 on 9/2. Today is 2 months since my surgery. I have 2 titanium rods & 8 screws. I now walk with a straight back for first time in my life with no pain. I have a bone graft which will adhere itself. Every time l put my feet on the ground each morning l am forever grateful to Dr Craig & his receptionist Pauline who guided me thru many hard times before my surgery decision. Recovery takes time & walking best exercise. I am walking every 2nd day 30mins now. I am an active woman & this was definitely the right decision for me. Dr Craig gave me my life back. I’m very lucky & have a way to go yet. My goal is to dance a waltz with my son at his wedding in November 26. I highly recommend you talk with Dr Craig he will help you.
My second consult was informative and reassuring for my upcoming surgery.
Very easy to talk with about my condition. And sound advice on my options. Highly recommend
Dr Timms is always very friendly and very professional. He listens attentively and answers all questions in a very detailed explanation.
