Dr Colin Walsh

Dr Colin Walsh is a Pregnancy Ultrasound and Maternal-Fetal Medicine Specialist with over 22 years of experience in obstetrics and high-risk pregnancy care. Based in St Leonards on Sydney’s North Shore, he provides expert pregnancy scanning and maternal-fetal medicine consultations to women across New South Wales.

Dr Walsh is a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (FRANZCOG), an accredited subspecialist in Maternal-Fetal Medicine (RCOG, London), and a Member of both the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (UK) and the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland. He holds a PhD from the University of New South Wales (2012) and a Diploma in Child Health (2004).

He has performed over 20,000 pregnancy ultrasounds and personally conducts and discusses each scan with his patients. His practice includes routine imaging for low-risk pregnancies and initial or second-opinion scans for complex or high-risk cases, including fetal growth problems, fetal abnormalities and multiple pregnancies (twins and triplets). 

He also provides pre-pregnancy planning, as well as consultations during pregnancy, for women with existing medical conditions or previous pregnancy complications.

Dr Walsh’s training includes posts in Sydney, Dublin, New York, and Cambridge. Formerly a Senior Staff Specialist at Royal North Shore Hospital’s Maternal-Fetal Medicine Unit, he remains active in academic research, with over 90 published papers, textbook chapters, and contributions to peer-reviewed journals.
