Dr Basia Lowes

Dr Basia (Barbara) Lowes is a highly trained and experienced Obstetrician, Gynaecologist, and Advanced Laparoscopic surgeon based in the North Shore and Eastern suburbs of Sydney. She is committed to providing evidence-based, holistic, and individualised care to women at every stage of life.

Specialising in minimally invasive and keyhole surgery, Dr Lowes treats a wide range of gynaecological conditions, including abnormal/heavy bleeding, endometriosis, fibroids, fertility issues, adenomyosis, pelvic pain, and menopause symptoms/menopause hormone therapy. She specialises in keyhole surgery for hysterectomy, fibroids and endometriosis management. She combines precision, innovation, and empathy to deliver the best possible outcomes and care for her patients. She is one of the few female advanced gynaecological surgeons practising on the North Shore of Sydney.

Accredited at the highest level of surgical training by the Australasian Gynaecological Endoscopy and Surgery (AGES) Society, Dr Lowes is qualified to perform level 5 and 6 procedures, including complex endometriosis excision and laparoscopic hysterectomy. She completed a prestigious Fellowship in Advanced Laparoscopic and Gynaecological Surgery at the Sydney West Advanced Pelvic Surgery Unit and holds a Master’s of Advanced Gynaecological Surgery (with Distinction) from the University of Western Sydney, as well as a Master’s of Women’s Health Medicine (with Excellence) from the University of New South Wales. She is also a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (FRANZCOG).

Dr Lowes is actively engaged in professional development and education. She is a member of the Australasian Gynaecological Endoscopy & Surgery Society, contributes to professional committees, and regularly presents at conferences and meetings. Her academic work includes publications in leading journals, and she is involved in teaching through RANZCOG, AGES, the University of Sydney and the University of New South Wales.
