Dr Catherine Meehan is a dedicated and highly experienced General Practitioner who provides comprehensive healthcare to individuals and families in Cairns, Australia. With a reassuring and patient-centred approach, she is committed to supporting her patients through all stages of life. Dr Meehan delivers high-quality family medicine, ensuring that every individual receives personalised and compassionate care tailored to their unique health needs.

In addition to general family medicine, Dr Meehan has developed several key areas of clinical interest, most notably in dive medicine and travel health. As an enthusiastic diver herself, she holds advanced qualifications in diving and hyperbaric medicine, allowing her to provide expert medical assessments for recreational and professional divers. She is also a practised traveller who offers comprehensive travel advice, vaccinations, and malaria prophylaxis to help patients prepare safely for overseas journeys.

Dr Meehan is highly proficient in conducting a wide range of occupational health assessments and statutory medical examinations. She is qualified to perform Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) and Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) medicals, as well as pre-employment assessments and international visa medicals. Her clinical expertise also extends to women's health, routine skin checks, minor surgical procedures, and contraceptive services, including the insertion and removal of contraceptive implants.

Dr Meehan obtained her Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) and subsequently completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Medical Science. Driven by her passion for underwater medicine, she also earned a Diploma in Diving and Hyperbaric Medicine. Demonstrating her commitment to the advancement of her field, she serves as an active Executive Committee Member of the South Pacific Underwater Medicine Society (SPUMS).
