Her work has led to her international recognition and she was awarded the Victorian Tall Poppy Science Award from the Australian Institue of Policy and Science in 2019. She also set up an international expert stroke prevention group, 'FACTCATS,' and is working on the world's first evidence-based guideline on the management of carotid arterial disease management.
