Dr Gitonga Maina began his professional journey in Kenya, where he completed his early education and trained as a Pharmacist at the University of Nairobi. After working in public healthcare, manufacturing, and retail pharmacy, he relocated to Australia, continuing his work in community pharmacy. Driven by a desire to expand his clinical impact, he pursued a career in medicine as a mature-age student at Flinders University, graduating with his medical degree in 2014. He subsequently gained valuable clinical experience across several major metropolitan and tertiary hospitals in South Australia before completing his General Practice training and obtaining Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP).

As a General Practitioner, Dr Gitonga Maina is experienced in all aspects of family care. He has a strong interest in preventative medicine, chronic disease management, and health assessments, helping patients manage long-term conditions such as diabetes and asthma. His clinical expertise also encompasses men's and women's health, pregnancy care, paediatrics, and immunisations. Additionally, he performs minor surgeries and cryotherapy, and provides travel medicine advice, pre-employment health checks, and workers' compensation assessments.
