Dr Amanda Shelton

Dr Amanda Shelton is a dedicated and compassionate General Practitioner who provides comprehensive primary care with a strong focus on family well-being. While she is highly skilled in all aspects of general medicine, she has developed a particular clinical focus on women's health, children's health, and maternal care. Dr Shelton is passionate about supporting families through every stage of life, offering expert guidance in antenatal and postnatal care, maternal mental health, and newborn and infant care.

Dr Shelton completed her medical degree, a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery, at the University of Otago in 2006. Following her graduation, she undertook her junior doctor training within a major health network in Melbourne, during which she completed a Diploma of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists. She successfully qualified as a General Practitioner upon completing her specialist GP training programme in 2011, obtaining Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners. Committed to continuous professional development, she undertook further education in breastfeeding medicine and qualified as an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant in 2020.

In addition to standard consultations, Dr Shelton provides specialised services such as dedicated breastfeeding medicine appointments and antenatal shared care, maintaining affiliations with major metropolitan hospitals. Her approach to patient care is evidence-based, reassuring, and highly collaborative. She strives to empower her patients by providing clear, practical information, ensuring that parents and individuals feel confident and supported in managing their health and the health of their children.
