Amanda Hannaford

Amanda Hannaford is a highly dedicated Osteopath who specialises in the management of soft tissue trauma, with a particular focus on supporting patients undergoing breast cancer treatment. She works collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams to help alleviate the physical side effects and symptoms associated with surgery, radiotherapy, and chemotherapy. By utilising gentle, hands-on manual therapy techniques, Hannaford aims to restore mobility, improve tissue pliability, and enhance the overall quality of life for her patients during their recovery journeys.

Her clinical practice is highly focused on addressing complex tissue restrictions, including scar tissue, fibrosis, fat necrosis, adhesions, and changes in tissue texture. Hannaford is also a qualified Lymphoedema Practitioner, enabling her to perform manual lymphatic drainage and manage conditions such as cording, restricted shoulder movement, and capsular contracture. In addition to her specialised work in oncology support, she has extensive experience treating general musculoskeletal issues, such as neck and back pain, hip and shoulder dysfunction, and recurrent foot and ankle pain, tailoring her treatment plans to meet the unique needs of each individual.

Hannaford completed her academic training with a Bachelor of Science in Human Biosciences in 2000, followed by a Masters Degree in Osteopathy in 2002. To further expand her therapeutic capabilities, she obtained a Graduate Diploma in Applied Acupuncture in 2004 and completed specialised lymphoedema training through the ALERT programme. She is a fully registered practitioner with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and maintains active membership with Osteopathy Australia. Throughout her career, she has also contributed to the profession as a University Lecturer and Clinical Examiner, and she regularly conducts continuing professional development courses for other Osteopaths and Allied Health Practitioners.
