Dr Alexandra Murphy

Dr Alexandra Murphy is a highly dedicated and compassionate Cardiologist who is committed to providing exceptional cardiovascular care to her patients. With a strong focus on patient-centred outcomes, she specialises in general cardiology, cardiac imaging, and the specialised field of cardio-oncology. Dr Murphy is particularly passionate about women's cardiovascular health and ensuring that patients undergoing cancer treatments receive comprehensive cardiac support to protect their heart health throughout their medical journey.

Her clinical expertise spans advanced cardiac imaging techniques, including echocardiography and imaging for structural interventions. As a specialist in cardio-oncology, Dr Murphy focuses on the cardiac management of patients with cancer, addressing the cardiovascular risks associated with oncology therapies. Her work involves detailed risk assessment, preventative strategies against therapy-related cardiac dysfunction, and the careful management of cardiotoxicity. Through her specialised knowledge, she helps patients navigate complex treatments while prioritising their long-term cardiovascular well-being.

Dr Murphy graduated from the University of Melbourne with a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery, and a Bachelor of Medical Science in 2012. She completed her advanced training in cardiology to become a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) in 2019. Furthering her academic and clinical pursuits, she earned a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) focusing on optimising cardiovascular outcomes in cancer patients, supported by prestigious national scholarships. Dr Murphy also completed advanced fellowships in cardiac imaging and structural intervention imaging, including international experience as a Fulbright Scholar in the United States. She is also a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology (FACC).
