Dr Alexandra McRae

Dr Alexandra McRae is a highly dedicated Obstetrician and Gynaecologist who provides comprehensive, individualised care to girls and women of all ages. With a compassionate and reassuring approach, she is passionate about improving all aspects of women's reproductive and sexual health, supporting patients through every stage of life from childhood to menopause. Dr McRae believes that patient education is empowering, ensuring that those under her care are fully informed about their medical conditions and treatment options. Her clinical philosophy focuses on evidence-based, personalised care, with a strong preference for conservative management of benign conditions and minimally invasive surgical techniques.

Her clinical expertise spans both low-risk and high-risk obstetrics, offering supportive care from preconception planning to postpartum contraception. In addition to general obstetric care, Dr McRae is one of only a few Obstetricians and Gynaecologists nationally with dedicated training in paediatric and adolescent gynaecology. She regularly manages complex cases involving early pregnancy complications, menstrual disorders, pelvic pain, polycystic ovarian syndrome, and vulval skin diseases. Her advanced surgical skills include colposcopy, the management of cervical dysplasia, and the surgical repair of postpartum anal sphincter injuries. She also serves as an Obstetric Consultant, supervising Registrars and teaching future medical professionals as an invited Lecturer.

Dr McRae completed her undergraduate medical degree, graduating with academic honours, at the University of New South Wales in 2001. She went on to complete her general obstetric and gynaecological training, followed by specialised fellowship training focusing on paediatric and adolescent gynaecology, minimally invasive surgery, and reproductive endocrinology. She has also undertaken additional training in sexual health, maternal critical care, and the management of medical disorders in pregnancy. Dr McRae is a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (FRANZCOG). She is an active member of the Australian and New Zealand Paediatric and Adolescent Gynaecology Society (ANZPAG) and serves on the RANZCOG Board of Examiners.
