Dr. Deepa Gopinath is a Urogynaecologist and advanced endoscopic surgeon with a wealth of experience in treating complex urogynaecological and general gynaecological issues. Her practice focuses on the assessment and management of recurrent urinary incontinence and prolapse, as well as performing native tissue repairs for these conditions, including laparoscopic and robotic surgery. Dr. Gopinath has pursued extensive training in urogynaecology in both the UK and Australia.
Dr. Gopinath completed her MBBS and MD in Obstetrics and Gynaecology from Calicut University in 2003. Seeking further professional development, she moved to Manchester, United Kingdom, and obtained her membership in Obstetrics and Gynaecology from the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG) in May 2006. During her time in the UK, she engaged in research at the University of Manchester and earned her MPhil degree in 2013.
Dr. Gopinath's dedication to her field led her to complete the certificate of completion of training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology (CCT) and subspecialist training in urogynaecology at the Jessop Wing, Sheffield, in 2014. She subsequently served as a consultant and urogynaecology lead at Stockport NHS Foundation Trust for nearly three years before relocating to Cairns in April 2017. Dr. Gopinath has presented her research findings and contributed to publications extensively throughout her career.
Upon her move to Australia, Dr. Gopinath was granted fellowship in Obstetrics and Gynaecology (FRANZCOG) by the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, and she was elevated to fellowship of RCOG (FRCOG) in November 2017. In 2018, she successfully cleared the Certificate of Urogynaecology exams and completed a 12-month urogynaecology fellowship at the Royal Women’s Hospital in Melbourne.
Dr. Gopinath sees patients at Complete Health Australia and performs surgeries at Campbelltown Private Hospital. She also consults at Women's Health Road and conducts operations at Northern Beaches Hospital. Her expertise and dedication make her a trusted specialist in the field of Urogynaecology.
