Dr Alexandra Capon

Dr Alexandra Capon is a dedicated Consultant Rheumatologist who prioritises a holistic and compassionate approach to patient care. She believes in the importance of managing the individual as a whole, rather than focusing solely on their medical condition. Dr Capon is committed to helping patients navigate a wide range of musculoskeletal and autoimmune disorders, ensuring they receive personalised and reassuring support throughout their treatment journey.

With a broad scope of practice, Dr Capon has a particular clinical interest in inflammatory arthritis, including rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, and gout. As a mother, she possesses a unique understanding of the complexities involved in managing women with inflammatory arthritis and autoimmune diseases during their childbearing years. Additionally, she maintains a keen interest in sports medicine, particularly concerning Masters athletes, and has co-authored several book chapters on the subject.

Dr Capon graduated from the University of New South Wales with Honours in 2007, earning her Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery, alongside a Bachelor of Science (Medicine). She completed her comprehensive specialist training at several major teaching hospitals, culminating in her admission as a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in 2015. Alongside her clinical practice, Dr Capon is passionate about medical education, regularly delivering lectures to junior doctors to prepare them for their specialist examinations.
