Dr Aileen Shuey

Dr Aileen Shuey is a highly qualified Consultant Psychiatrist who provides comprehensive care across a broad spectrum of adult mental health conditions. With a compassionate and patient-centred approach, she specialises in diagnosing and managing depressive, anxiety, and psychotic disorders. Dr Shuey is dedicated to delivering evidence-based treatments tailored to the unique needs of each individual, helping patients navigate complex mental health challenges with professional guidance and support.

In addition to general adult psychiatry, Dr Shuey has developed significant expertise in several specialised areas of mental health. She has a particular interest in neuropsychiatry, which involves the diagnosis and management of psychiatric conditions presenting as neurological symptoms or occurring alongside neurological diseases. Her clinical focus also extends to the assessment and treatment of adult Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), perinatal psychiatry, somatoform and functional neurological disorders, and supportive psychotherapy. Her diverse clinical background enables her to address complex cases, including those involving acquired brain injuries.

Dr Shuey's extensive medical career is built upon a solid foundation of academic and clinical training. She graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery from the University of Tasmania in 2002, subsequently obtaining a Master of Psychological Medicine from Monash University in 2010. She is a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists. Prior to her medical training, Dr Shuey established a strong clinical foundation as a Registered Nurse, holding a Diploma of Nursing from the University of Sydney and a Bachelor of Health Science in Nursing from Southern Cross University. This diverse background enhances her holistic approach to patient care.
