Dr William Dawes

Dr William Dawes is an accomplished Consultant Paediatric Neurosurgeon and Clinician Scientist dedicated to delivering high-quality, compassionate surgical care to young patients with complex neurological conditions. Recognised for his reassuring and patient-centred approach, Dr Dawes works closely with children and their families to ensure they feel fully supported and informed throughout every stage of assessment, surgical intervention, and recovery. His practice encompasses a comprehensive range of neurosurgical conditions affecting infants, children, and young adults.

Dr Dawes completed his advanced postgraduate research and earned his PhD from Queen Mary University of London in 2017, focusing on novel therapeutic targets following neonatal intraventricular haemorrhage. He attained his Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons in Surgical Neurology (FRCS (SN)) in 2018. Alongside his surgical practice, he holds academic appointments as an Honorary Associate Professor and Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer, and maintains professional involvement with organisations such as the British Paediatric Neurosurgery Group.

In his clinical practice, Dr Dawes possesses specialised expertise in managing neonatal intraventricular haemorrhage, post-haemorrhagic ventricular dilatation, and hydrocephalus in children. His clinical and academic interests extend to neural stem cell applications, ependymal pathophysiology, and the use of neuroimaging techniques to guide neurosurgical decisions.
