About Miss Shalaka Sobti
Miss Shalaka Sobti (née Paralkar) is a Consultant Ophthalmologist with specialist expertise Paediatric ophthalmolohy, strabismus and adult cataract surgery. She is currently based at Hillingdon Hospital and Mount Vernon hospital, where she provides comprehensive, patient-centred eye care tailored to the unique needs of young patients.
Miss Sobti earned her MBBS degree in India under the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences. She completed her initial ophthalmology training in Mumbai, India and completed a prestigious fellowship in strabismus and paediatric ophthalmology at the Sankara Nethralaya Medical Research Foundation, Chennai, India, a globally recognised centre of excellence in eye care. During her time in mumbai she has worked at P. D. Hinduja National hospital and research centre. She further refined her skills and training in the UK, including a Paediatric ophthalmology and strabismus fellowship at Moorfields eye hospital, London, one of the world’s leading ophthalmic institutions, where she gained advanced exposure to complex paediatric and adult strabismus cases. She has been working as a consultant at Hillingdon hospitals NHS foundation trust since 2018.
Combining strong academic training with extensive clinical experience, Miss Sobti is dedicated to delivering high-quality, evidence-based care. She is well experienced in adult cataract surgery including Complex cataracts. She is particularly committed to early diagnosis and effective treatment of childhood eye conditions, helping to improve long-term visual outcomes and quality of life for her patients.

My experience was excellent as my first visit last year when I had my first cataract done. I requested to have my second eye done by Miss Sobti
I attended an appointment for my eye today and It was great. The opthalmologist, Miss Shalala Sobti received me with a warm welcome. She was very respectful and treated me with dignity. She explained to me what the visit was about, the results of my eye test, and advised on the next course of action. She was very professional and good communicator. Thank you Shalaka, keep up the good work.
