Dr Scott Shepherd

Dr Scott Shepherd is a Consultant Medical Oncologist who specialises in the diagnosis and systemic management of adult malignancies, with a primary focus on skin and urological cancers. Dedicated to delivering compassionate, evidence-based care, Dr Shepherd offers comprehensive clinical evaluations and individualised treatment plans for patients navigating complex oncological conditions. His practice prioritises clear communication and patient-centred decision-making, ensuring that individuals and their families feel supported throughout every phase of their treatment journey.

As a specialist Oncologist, Dr Shepherd possesses expertise across a range of complex conditions, including renal (kidney) cancer, melanoma, and non-melanoma skin cancers. His clinical interest extends to inherited kidney cancer syndromes and the application of modern systemic treatments, including immunotherapy, targeted therapies, and chemotherapy. He works collaboratively within multidisciplinary clinical teams to formulate tailored treatment strategies aimed at achieving optimal long-term health outcomes.

Dr Shepherd completed his undergraduate medical education at the University of Glasgow, graduating with a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) alongside an intercalated Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Cancer Sciences. Following completion of his internal medicine training, he undertook specialist higher training in Medical Oncology. He holds Membership of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP) and earned a PhD focused on cancer evolution and the biological mechanisms of treatment resistance after being awarded a Cancer Research UK Clinical PhD Fellowship.

In addition to his clinical responsibilities, Dr Shepherd is actively involved in translational cancer research, investigating tumour biology and methods to overcome resistance to novel therapies in kidney and skin cancers. His commitment to integrating scientific discoveries into daily medical practice ensures that his patients receive up-to-date, high-quality care delivered with professional rigour.
