About Mr Santosh Kumar Somasundaram
Mr Santosh Kumar Somasundaram is a highly skilled Consultant Oncoplastic and Reconstructive Breast Surgeon with a wealth of expertise in the management of both benign and malignant breast conditions in women and men. After completing his general surgery training in the North East Thames deanery and at West Middlesex University Hospital, he further honed his skills by successfully passing his Fellowship exams in 2014, with a sub-specialty interest in Breast Surgery.
Mr Somasundaram pursued an Oncoplastic Fellowship at the Nightingale Centre in Manchester before being appointed as a Consultant Oncoplastic and Reconstructive Breast Surgeon at University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay in 2018. His clinical expertise encompasses a wide range of surgical techniques, including advanced oncoplastic and reconstructive procedures for breast cancer, as well as cosmetic surgeries such as breast reductions and mastopexies (breast lifts).
In addition to his clinical practice, Mr Somasundaram has a strong research background, having conducted breast cancer-related studies at University College London. His research has been presented at various national and international conferences, earning awards and contributing to multiple peer-reviewed publications.

I was referred to Mr Somasundaram following a breast cancer diagnosis. He immediately put me at ease due to his calm and gentle manner. I was feeling very anxious and overwhelmed at the time and didn't want overloading with information. Mr Somasundaram understood this and we took it one step at a time. He explained the options available and I made my decision to have a mastectomy.
