Dr. Rasha Mukhtar

Dr Rasha Mukhtar is a Consultant Endocrinologist based at Frimley Park Hospital, where she also holds private consultations at Parkside Private Suite Frimley. She has extensive experience in the investigation, diagnosis and management of a wide range of endocrine conditions, including thyroid disease, calcium and electrolyte disorders, pituitary and adrenal conditions, and hypogonadism. Alongside her general endocrinology practice, she provides specialist diabetes care and leads both the insulin pump and continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) clinic, as well as the combined diabetes and endocrine antenatal clinic.

Dr Mukhtar has particular expertise in endocrine and diabetes care during pregnancy, insulin pump therapy, and the comprehensive management of general endocrine and diabetes conditions. Her clinical work is underpinned by a strong commitment to delivering safe, evidence-based, and patient-centred care across all stages of life.

She graduated from the University of Khartoum in 1995 and completed her specialist training within the Severn Deanery. She later obtained a Doctor of Medicine degree following the completion of a residency programme in endocrinology, diabetes and metabolism. Prior to joining Frimley Park Hospital, Dr Mukhtar worked as a Consultant Endocrinologist at James Cook University Hospital.

Education and training are central to Dr Mukhtar’s professional role. She holds a Diploma in Medical Education from Durham University and currently serves as the FY2 Foundation Programme Director at Frimley Park Hospital. She is also an examiner for the Professional and Linguistic Assessments Board (PLAB) and MRCP(UK), and has previously worked as an Associate Lecturer at Newcastle University.

Dr Mukhtar remains actively involved in clinical research, with current interests focused on type 1 diabetes, diabetes-related technologies, and antenatal endocrine and diabetes care.
