Mr Rahul Bamal

Mr Rahul Bamal is a Consultant Hand, Wrist and Plastic Surgeon at the Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust and sees private patients at Fairfield Independent Hospital. He holds dual General Medical Council specialist registration in both Plastic Surgery and Hand Surgery, allowing him to manage a wide range of complex hand, wrist and reconstructive conditions.

Mr Bamal completed his primary medical degree (MBBS) and postgraduate surgical training, including a Master of Surgery (MS) in General Surgery and a Master of Chirurgiae (MCh) in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, in India. He subsequently undertook an International Hand and Upper Limb Fellowship on the Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia, between 2017 and 2018 under the Australian Orthopaedic Association, before moving to the United Kingdom in 2019. He was awarded Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (FRCSEd) and the European Board Diploma in Hand Surgery (EBHS-FESSH). Mr Bamal is also Clinical Governance Lead for Hand and Plastic Surgery at Salford Royal Hospital and a member of the Academy of Medical Educators.

His clinical practice covers the full spectrum of hand and wrist surgery, including wide-awake hand surgery (WALANT), Dupuytren's disease, hand and wrist fractures, hand arthritis, complex hand trauma, carpal tunnel syndrome, trigger finger, wrist arthritis, wrist arthroscopy, ligament reconstruction, tendon reconstruction, nerve decompression and peripheral nerve surgery. He also performs reconstructive plastic surgery, including scar revision, ganglion and lump excision, and soft tissue reconstruction.
