About Mr Parm Johal

Mr Parm Johal is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in knee surgery. He is the clinical lead for soft tissue knee surgery at Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust and also practises privately at Spire Thames Valley Hospital and The Chiltern Hospital in Great Missenden.

His clinical expertise covers all aspects of knee conditions, including sports injuries, arthroscopic surgery, meniscal surgery, cruciate ligament reconstruction, patellofemoral instability, and total knee replacement.

He qualified from Charing Cross & Westminster Medical School, University of London, in 1994 and completed his orthopaedic training at major centres of excellence in London, including University College Hospital, Chelsea & Westminster Hospital, Charing Cross Hospital and the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in Stanmore. He subsequently undertook fellowship training in sports surgery and joint replacement at Sportsmed-SA in Adelaide, Australia, and further dedicated knee surgery fellowships at the Avon Orthopaedic Centre in Bristol and Guy’s Hospital in London. He was also awarded a European Federation of National Associations of Orthopaedics & Traumatology (EFORT) fellowship at the University of Leuven, Belgium.

Mr Johal completed his MD thesis on the kinematics of the knee joint, research that has been widely cited and used in the design of modern knee prostheses. He has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals and has presented at national and international conferences.

Had excellent outcome from right total knee replacement by Mr Johal. Had left one done 6 months ago and was very pleased. Even more pleased with right knee. Couldn't have asked for a better result.

Mr Johal is an excellent surgeon. Prior to my treatment he was very clear when explaining the procedure. I felt very confident in his care. My knee replacement surgery was a complete success and he was very thorough at my follow-up appointment answering all my questions. A gentleman.

Mr Johal very professional and friendly - reviewed my movement and mobility of joint and confirmed what I can do now going forward as other than some. Slight swelling knee seems. To have recover well and swelling will go down over time
