Dr Neeraj Purohit

Dr Neeraj Purohit is a Consultant in Musculoskeletal Radiology working in the private sector. Until recently, he held a full-time NHS position at University Hospital Southampton, where he developed extensive expertise in the imaging and treatment of complex musculoskeletal conditions.

He graduated from the University of Sheffield Medical School in 2001, initially completing a basic surgical training rotation, followed by an MSc in Skeletal Tissue Biology at University College London. After three years as an orthopaedic registrar, Dr Purohit entered the Wessex Clinical Radiology Training Programme and subsequently attained his Fellowship of the Royal College of Radiologists (FRCR).

To further specialise, he undertook a yearlong fellowship in musculoskeletal radiology at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in Stanmore, gaining valuable experience in complex orthopaedic imaging, radiofrequency ablation, and bone and soft tissue tumour imaging and biopsy. He has also developed particular expertise in nuclear medicine, with a focus on bone SPECT/CT imaging, and holds a postgraduate diploma in Sports and Exercise Medicine from the University of South Wales, awarded with distinction.

Dr Purohit maintains a strong interest in education and holds a visiting academic role at the University of Southampton. His clinical interests include musculoskeletal diagnostic and image-guided interventions, imaging of sports injuries, joint, tendon and bursal injections, Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) therapy for chronic tendon conditions, and spinal imaging with procedures such as nerve root blocks and facet joint injections.

With his broad training and continued dedication to high-quality, patient-centred care, Dr Purohit remains a leading figure in musculoskeletal radiology in Hampshire.
