Dr Nay Aung

Dr Nay Aung is a consultant cardiologist specialising in advanced cardiac imaging, heart failure and preventive cardiology. He provides comprehensive assessment and treatment for cardiovascular conditions, with particular expertise in genetic and non-genetic heart failure. His approach combines advanced diagnostic techniques, precision medicine and personalised treatment strategies to support patients with complex cardiac conditions.

His expertise in cardiovascular imaging includes cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), cardiovascular computed tomography (CT) and echocardiography. Dr Aung holds Level 3 certification in cardiac MRI from the European Association of Cardiovascular Imaging (EACVI), enabling him to provide multimodal cardiac assessments. His preventive cardiology services include cardiovascular risk assessments for patients with a family history of heart disease, high blood pressure, high cholesterol or diabetes. He also incorporates genomic risk profiling, imaging biomarkers and clinical data into individualised risk assessments and treatment planning.

Dr Aung graduated with honours from University College London Medical School in 2008 and completed specialist training in cardiology. He subsequently obtained a PhD in cardiovascular genetics and artificial intelligence, supported by a Wellcome Trust Research Training Fellowship, and an Executive Master of Science in Health Economics from the London School of Economics.

His research focuses on applying artificial intelligence to cardiovascular medicine. As a recipient of an MRC Clinician Scientist Fellowship, he leads research programmes in this field and has authored more than 120 scientific publications, including articles in Circulation, Journal of the American College of Cardiology and Nature Genetics. His achievements include the Royal Society of Medicine President's Prize and the Outstanding Early Career Researcher Award from Queen Mary University of London.

Dr Aung contributes to European Society of Cardiology white papers and serves on international committees. His clinical approach emphasises clear communication, shared decision-making and personalised cardiovascular care.
