Mr Simon Fogerty is a Consultant Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgeon working for The Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust. He also has private practices at The Spire Elland Hospital and the BMI Huddersfield Hospital. He provides consultations and treatments on trauma, shoulder and elbow conditions. He also provides a patient-centric approach towards treating his patients with the highest level of quality and care.
Mr Fogerty qualified from Sheffield University Medical School in 2001, which is where he also completed his higher surgical training. Following this, he moved to West Yorkshire (Leeds) and undertook a Yorkshire Orthopaedic Higher Surgical Training Programme. During this, he completed a Diploma in Sports and Exercise Medicine. This allows him to gain a better understanding in the benefits of exercise and applying the best treatments for athletes. Towards the end of his orthopaedic training, he completed a 12 month fellowship under the supervision of the renowned surgeon Dr Laurent Lafosse. This provided Mr Fogerty with a good understanding of arthroscopy and the latest techniques to treat the shoulder and elbow.
Mr Fogerty is an expert in arthroscopic rotator cuff surgery and shoulder instability, with a good understanding of the Latarjet procedure (coracoid transfer). He also provides treatments for tennis elbow and ulnar nerve entrapment.

I am in awe of the skills of surgeons like Mr Fogerty, not only for their technical ability in repairing and rebuilding our broken bodies, but also their craftmanship in restoring balance and symmetry. I am eternally grateful to him for restoring my shattered clavicle to full functionality.
I am delighted with the outcome of my shoulder arthroscopy. After suffering with an impingement for two years, Mr Fogerty successfully diagnosed the condition, guided me through non-surgical options, and ultimately performed a successful operation. At all times throughout the process his advice was clear and considered. This was my first surgical procedure and I felt in very safe hands. The whole experience was professional and supportive; and the outcome has been at the top end of my expectations.
I can’t fault or recommend any improvements as the care I received, right from my first clinic appointment, pre assessment, the operation, the communication (mainly Mr Foggerty’s secretary) to the follow up care and discharge, was outstanding in every respect. I would highly recommend Mr Foggerty and his team to anyone with any similar issues. I’m am extremely grateful that I’m now able to have a good nights sleep, and the level of pain is now barely noticeable, better results than I had hoped for, and has made a massive difference to my quality of life. Thank you. I would further recommend Calderdale Hospital - it’s lovely as hospitals go.
Explanation of condition was easy to understand. Was very caring and also to the point. A superb surgeon in my opinion
I was very nervous about having the operation but Mr Fogerty put me at ease. The whole experience from consultations, operation itself and after care was done in a caring and reassuring manner. After 12 months I have full range of movement again and most of all pain free. Thank you.
Excellent consultation very informative, gave you time to ask questions and made me feel at ease. Would Highley recommend Mr Fogerty to friends and family.
Mr Fogarty was thorough and gave a good explanation of my diagnosis. He made it clear what my options were to treat it and what the potential outcomes of the treatment would be. There was no pressure to proceed with any treatment on the day based on his recommendations. Overall I was really happy with the initial consultation and the reviews that followed.
