I found Mr Hamilton to be informative and honest in shaping my expectations of the operation, a total left knee replacement. He shared and explained my X-rays and had working models of what the new joint would look like. After an extremely painful experience of having my right knee replaced, I had determined to avoid further knee surgery at all costs, however, pain and lack of mobility meant that I was forced to reconsider. After personal research, it seemed to me that robotic assistance during the procedure might be less invasive, less painful, more accurate and with a shorter recovery time. I am very glad I did opt for this. With the first knee, I was still in severe pain six weeks on, I had twice to ask for pills so that I could have some sleep. I suffered from terrible cramps and exercising was very painful. On this occasion I needed only minimal pain relief after two weeks and friends and family commented on how my recovery was several weeks faster. In addition, I have been aware of something different in how the right leg feels post-op, particularly in an increased sensitivity in the heel. I have found nothing similar with the left knee. At the end of the day the first knee operation was a great success and this review is in no way meant as a criticism, however, I would urge anyone requiring knee surgery to consider Mr Hamilton and his robot!

He put my daughter and myself immediately at ease, his manner was both quietly authoritative yet attentive, which gave us confidence, and the operation has been successful as far as we can tell. He rang me afterwards to give a progress report, which I wasn’t expecting, but was a lovely relief. He also fitted us in to a busy list so that my daughter could get on with going to university. This was the second procedure I had received at the hands of Mr. Hamilton & I have to say the whole experience was absolutely 1st class, from the explanation of what the issues were & what his suggestions were for putting it right, through to the procedure itself & the follow up consultation. Reassuring and competent

Mr Hamilton explained the whole procedure of a partial knee replacement using robotics, how the procedure would be and the reduced recovery period. I am now 7 weeks post op and no longer need pain relief (first time in over 3yrs) I am pushing forward with my recovery plan with a physio and can feel the strength improving every day. With my progress so far I feel I have as good as new result which will give me a full and active life moving forward. Mr Hamilton and his whole team were very helpful and professional throughout.
