Explanation

I found Mr Gidwani to be calm, clear and very pleasant to deal with. He didn't automatically assume that surgery was the only way forward and we discussed all options before deciding jointly how to proceed. My surgery (carpal tunnel release and multiple trigger finger releases on both hands) proceeded very efficiently and with me feeling very comfortable and unstressed at all times. The outcome of the surgery is looking good. I would wholeheartedly recommend Mr Gidwani to other patients.

Explanation

Mr. Gidwani gets my top rating for these reasons: - (1) his thoroughness of researching correct treatment (which otherwise would have had very adverse effects (2) Clear, concise and prompt in F2F communication, written comms and appointment follow ups (3) a personable and reassuring manner eased my anxiety pre-procedure and during. I am most grateful for a job very well done, thank you so much.

Forgot to mention re my Dupuytren's...the shoulder anaesthetic was amazing (avoiding a general anaesthetic) and Dr Ajit Parwa carefully described how my arm would feel - weird but painless. Mr Sam Gidwani's stiches were perfect. 5 weeks on I have a straight finger! I know I have to continue with finger exercises but this is the best result! And Alice Boyle, the hand physiotherapist, has also been an amazing member of the Dream Team.

Explanation

I must have had the dream team! From my initial consultation with Mr Sam Gidwani for a Dupuytren's fasciectomy for the little finger on my left hand which had been hooked over for a year and was causing discomfort and spasms, I understood exactly what he planned to do to address the problem; also what the risks were. A couple of weeks later, I was in London Bridge hospital, talking with the anaesthetist, Dr Amit Pawa, who had the more difficult challenge of describing to me what I would feel like as he administered a 'block' to my shoulder rather than a general anaesthetic before the procedure. Both specialists took the time to explain both the process and the after-effects. With both of them (and Mozart playing) in the operating theatre, I could not have felt more reassured. And the after care from Mr Sam Gidwani and his hand physiotherapists could not have been better. And I now have a straightened and (soon to be very - provided I do the exercises) mobile finger.

I suffered a fractured scaphoid in my teens that gave no trouble until I reached 60. Pain and swelling resulted in two consultations with Mr. Gidwani. On both occasions his advice was clear, concise and wholly explained with reference to my X-rays and MRI scan. I appreciated his honesty wherein he explained that surgery at 60 plus years may not improve the condition and options were limited. He advised physio and a thermoplastic splint which were all provided at HCA Shard on the same day as the second consultation. The improvement to my wrist has been excellent and I can now use my hand for more demanding tasks with the splint and choose when to wear it for preservation of my wrist for the longer term. I received a further telephone consultation to follow up on the splint and X-ray results which was very much appreciated. In short Mr Gidwani has delivered for me first class advice in a wholly professional manner.

I met Mr Gidwani regarding my 5 week fractured Metacarpal, which had not been adequately treated by the NHS. Mr Gidwani was highly professional throughout my treatment, showing empathy together with a good bedside manner. He recommended surgery, as it was a pretty bad fracture. The surgery and post-operative care was excellent, resulting in full function being restored to my hand. I would thoroughly recommend Mr Gidwani, if you're seeking an experienced and competent surgeon.

Mr Gidwani operated on my hand in March 2018 and I was incredibly impressed with the quality of care provided. The surgery was a complete success and in addition the communication and provision of both pre and post operative information and care was exceptional. I would highly recommend Mr Gidwani and his team.

Mr Gidwani was excellent, he quickly diagnosed a problem in my left hand and sent me for steroid injection treatment which seemingly miraculously cured the problem entirely and my symptoms have not returned. A fantastic experience all round. Highly recommended.

Dr Gidwani was professional, kind, and took the time to explain everything I needed / wanted to know. In stark contrast to another specialist I had seen for the same issue, he made me feel I was in safe hands.

Explanation

I had surgery performed on my right hand by Mr Gidwani in August 2016. From the first consultation I had until the final I found Mr Gidwani to be extremely professional and extremely detailed. I always believed that I was being given honest advice and am happy that I decided to go ahead with the surgery due to the results gained. However, not only am I leaving a 5 star review just due to the surgical results. During the aftercare Mr Gidwani went above and beyond to help with recovery. He would send regular text messages asking how I was doing and would answer any of my messages when I would contact him. When I was concerned with the colour and feeling Mr Gidwani called me on FaceTime to have a look at the finger and best advise me what to do going forward. Having this contact with a surgeon after a procedure is not something that I have encountered before and I thank Mr Gidwani for his time and effort in helping me gain better use of my right hand.
