Mr Mriganka De

Mr. Mriganka De is a highly experienced Consultant ENT Head and Neck Surgeon with over 15 years of consultant-level experience, currently based at the University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust. Renowned for his expertise and patient-centred approach, Mr. De provides both outpatient and inpatient care across general ENT and complex head and neck conditions, combining clinical excellence with the latest evidence-based treatments.

He leads the ENT Head and Neck/Thyroid service at University Hospitals Birmingham — the largest ENT department in the UK — and has established one of the country’s most extensive practices in minimally invasive head and neck surgery, including Transoral Robotic Surgery (TORS) and Transoral Laser Microsurgery.

In addition to his clinical responsibilities, Mr. De serves as Associate Medical Director for Corporate Governance, overseeing multiple trust-level governance projects. 

Mr. De completed his basic surgical training in South Wales and higher surgical training in ENT and Head & Neck Surgery in the West Midlands, followed by an Advanced Fellowship in Head & Neck Oncology. He also served as a Senior Research Fellow at the University of Birmingham, where his research focused on the role of epigenetics in head and neck cancer. Before returning to Birmingham, he held a consultant position at the Royal Derby Hospital for over seven years.

Mr. De has authored more than 40 peer-reviewed publications, over 20 journal abstracts, and 10 book chapters, and has received four research grants. He is a frequent invited lecturer and has delivered over 100 national and international presentations.

Mr. De is the founder and director of the Midlands Minimally Invasive Surgery Course (Transoral Robotic and Laser Surgery) and serves as faculty for numerous national and international surgical conferences and training programmes.
