About Mr John Iacovou
Mr John Iacovou is a Consultant Urologist at BMI The Ridgeway Hospital and Great Western Hospital (NHS Trust). He has a particular interest in female and male incontinence, disorders of the prostate, bladder pain and all types of cystitis.
Investigations & treatments he carried out include cystoscopy, prostate surgery, ureteroscopy, adult circumcision, orchidopexy, all types of scrotal surgery, minimally invasive stone therapy, the medical and surgical management of bladder cancer as well as vasectomy.
Mr Iacovou qualified at Nottingham in 1980 and spent a number of years training in General Surgery before entering Specialist training in Urology, gaining wide-ranging experience in the major teaching hospitals of Bristol, Nottingham and Derby. He was appointed to the post of Consultant Urologist in Swindon in 1992 – founding the Department of Urology at the BMI The Ridgeway Hospital and the Great Western Hospital. The department has developed and expanded to offer a comprehensive Urological service treating a complete spectrum of patients.

Very happy with the prostate procedure. Mr Iacovu’s surgery exceeded all my expectations. The process was fully and clearly explained throughout, with appropriate expectations given professionally and sensitively. My only minor criticism is that at times Mr Iacovu seemed very busy, giving the impression that he was unable to spend much time with each patient.
