Dr Johan Waktare

Dr Johan Waktare is a consultant cardiologist and cardiac electrophysiologist based in Liverpool. He has over 32 years of medical experience and over 18 years of specialist experience in cardiology and cardiac electrophysiology.

Dr Waktare has specialist interest in cardiac arrhythmias, atrial fibrillation, atrial flutter and inappropriate sinus tachycardia. He has interest in researching atrial fibrillation and quality of life.

He currently practises at Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital as a Consultant Cardiology and Cardiac Electrophysiologist. He typically provides care for patients with:

• Long QT syndrome
• Tachycardia and bradycardia
• Atrial flutter and fibrillations
• Syncope
• Adult congenital heart disease
• Supraventricular tachycardia
• Cardiomyopathy

Dr Waktare received his MBChB in 1989 from the University of Manchester. He then undertook his cardiology training and specialised as a consultant cardiologist in 2003 from St George's Hospital Medical School, London. He later became a Senior Fellow at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham.

Outside of the clinic, Dr Waktare has published over 20 original research papers and has written one book all in the areas of cardiology.
