On first meeting David he said “ I can see the pain in your eyes”, the first person to recognise my daily struggle of having bad knees! Now I have had partial knee replacements done on both knees, six months apart, it has drastically changed my life. I didn’t realise how much pain I was in until it was no longer there. His calm, confident, relaxed manner gave me the confidence that I needed. His secretary and himself and very responsive to emails with any queries before and after surgery. Both operations were entirely different, one GA and one spinal but both the same outcome. I Would highly recommend Mr DHB to anyone and do frequently.

I suffered with a problem to my left knee for two years. It was diagnosed as a torn meniscus which was progressively getting worse, more painful, less stable and seriously affecting my running. But until I visited Mr Houlihan-Burne I didn't fully understand what this meant for me as I had booked to run the Berlin marathon and wanted the best chance to achieve it. Mr HB was very clear with me describing what the operation entailed and what the recovery would be, but I trusted his advice and so decided to go ahead with the operation, just 15 weeks before the marathon I woke up after the operation and was able to walk immediately. Over the next week or so, I had virtually no pain, just stiffness and swelling. I had the stiches out two weeks after the operation and Mr HB told me I could start non-impact exercising in the gym. I worked hard on elliptical and bike machines and did weight training to strengthen the knee. Now, six weeks after the operation, I have started running again and today did my first proper 5k. I have zero pain and virtually no swelling. I now have over eight weeks until the marathon to get myself into shape. Quite honestly, this is a miracle. I can't recommend Mr Houlihan-Burne enough.

The care provided was of the highest standard. I was treated with courtesy and respect and expected outcomes were clearly explained. Post-operative recovery proved even better than anticipated with barely any need for pain relief.
