Professor Christopher Liu OBE

Being severely claustrophobic and suffering anxiety, I was very frightened by the thought of having cataract surgery, also having been told at a previous consultation from a different practitioner that I would still need to wear a contact lens in one eye and have several pairs of glasses for different purposes. From my first consultation with Professor Liu, he completely cancelled all my fears, explaining that he could do both my eye operations at the same appointment under general anaesthesia and with tri-focal lenses I would not need contact lenses or glasses in future. I can honestly say the whole procedure went very smoothly and not painful at all, just a little discomfort, which soon passed and I am delighted with the results, I can see everything I want and need to see. I want to recommend Professor Liu to anybody who needs any eye treatment.

I cannot recommend Professor Christopher Liu and Vivienne highly enough. Professor Liu was exceptionally kind, compassionate and thorough. We came to see him at a very difficult and worrying time, and he immediately made us feel that we were in the safest and most experienced hands. He took great care to understand the full medical history, explained everything clearly and sensitively, and went above and beyond to help us, including arranging further specialist care. His professionalism, expertise and genuine humanity were deeply reassuring. It was also such a pleasure to meet him personally. Vivienne was equally wonderful — warm, kind, efficient and incredibly helpful. She made every effort to arrange our appointment at very short notice and treated us with such care and understanding throughout. My wife had bilateral cataract operation performed by professor Christopher Liu on 25th June 2026 under G.A. The op. and post op. recovery was uneventful. Mr Liu is a very caring consultant ophthalmologist who really care about his patients and I would 100% recommend him for any ophthalmic issues.

On the few occasions when I have had a query about my eyes, Vivienne has arranged for me to either visit the surgery in person or to speak to Professor Liu by video call without delay and without making me feel like I am being a nuisance. Becoming glasses-free with 20/20 vision has been life changing and I honestly couldn't rate Tongdean Eye Clinic more highly. It is truly exceptional.

From my initial consultation through to surgery and after care, Professor Liu provided an amazing and professional service in friendly reassuring manner.
