Excellent surgeon. Clear about the best option for me.
The whole process was very efficient with a clear explanation.
I was referred to Mr Bailey after seeing my GP and having an X-Ray, and first saw him on 24 October 2025. He showed me the images and explained the options to me and asked what I wanted to achieve. I explained that while I knew I would not run again, it would be nice to be able to take part in recreational skiing once more, albeit on gentler runs, and that I would like the stability of my knee to be restored. He asked how soon I would like to have surgery and I said as soon as possible. I was booked in there and then for surgery on 5 December 2025, which took place as planned and has been highly successful. Nearly seven weeks later I am walking normally, back in the gym, with full knee stability and no knee pain. I continue to do the physio exercises to expand my range of movement. I could not be more satisfied with the result.
I had a total complex knee replacement on 8th December. From the first consultation to the post-op meeting, I felt re-assured and completely confident that the treatment I would and have recieved would be top quality. Everything was fully explained and it was easy to ask further questions via Mr Bailey's secretary. Mr Bailey was approachable and professional and the rest of the hospital team reflected this manner. Although I had to self -fund, it was worth it to not only get rid of the intense pain in my knee but also to be treated in such a caring and professional way. The x-ray of my new knee is amazing! I am so pleased I found, through research, such a good orthopaedic surgeon, support team and hospital.
I had knee surgery with Mr Bailey in June of this year. It was my first time being treated by him, despite having had three previous knee surgeries over the past 14 years post a ski accident. Without question, his surgery was the best experience and outcome I’ve ever had. His manner was brilliant, calm, reassuring, and genuinely supportive. I felt completely confident throughout the whole process. My knee has felt the best it has since I was a teenager, before my ski accident. Thanks to his exceptional skill and care, I was able to run a 76-kilometre ultramarathon in November, just five months after surgery and finished in 9 hours and 21 minutes. I consider that an incredible testament to his work. I’m now returning to him for treatment on my other knee and I recommend Mr Bailey to absolutely everyone.
Very professional and put you at rest as to what and how he was going to go about the procedure
I have had both knees operated on with total knee replacements and it has been a great success. Everyone involved in my care were very kind and helpful and Mr Bailey did a fantastic job. For the first time in over 6 years I am pain free and can walk unaided, my recovery taking 6 weeks for each knee. It was certainly money well spent and only wished I had done it sooner.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review about your knee operation. I am delighted to hear you are now pain free and are able to walk unaided. I wish you well with your recovery. Best regards, Chris Bailey
Excellent service every step of the way from Mr Chris Bailey and his team at the Royal Hampshire County Hospital. When I told people the procedure is carried out whilst I am awake, most looked horrified. However the actual experience was really quite pleasant and proved nothing to be worried about. I'm now 13 weeks from surgery and have very little pain and my previously bent leg is now straight and I can walk limp free. A big thank you to Chris and his team.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review about your knee operation. I am delighted to hear your have recovered so well and are now able to walk limp free. Best regards Chris Bailey
I feel incredibly lucky to have had Mr Bailey for my longed for knee surgery. I’ve had two lateral partial knee replacements, one in January and one at the end of September. From my first appointments to my last Mr Bailey explained everything in a way that alleviated any worries I may have had. I was able to return to teaching pilates within 6 weeks of both ops. I can honestly say this surgery has given me back the active life I want to be living . I can highly recommend Mr Bailey and the whole team at The Nuffield.

Many thanks for taking the time to leave a review about your knee operation. I am delighted to hear how well you have got on with your recovery and that you are now back to teaching pilates and enjoying life . Best regards Chris Bailey
Mr Bailey was very pleasant and explained my options. The operation went well and I am very happy with the outcome. I saw him again last week and he showed me the x-rays of before and after and explained what he’d done.

Many thanks for taking time to leave a review. I hope you continue to recover well. All the best Chris Bailey
